BetCity received an online gaming and sports betting licence in October 2021 from the Amsterdam-based Dutch Gaming and Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit). At the beginning of 2022, its market share was 20%. Late in 2022, Entain purchased the company.

Enteractive will use player databases to improve player retention and brand loyalty for BetCity.nl, and will also offer phone support from agents who speak the players' native tongues.
