Unibet is chastised by a Danish authority for AML violations.

Unibet is chastised by a Danish authority for AML violations.

The DGA has mandated that Unibet "Denmark" Limited, the company in charge of Kindred's Danish operations, improve its risk assessment.

A "number of breaches" were found, according to the regulator, during an investigation into the company's AML responsibilities.

"As previously communicated Unibet 'Denmark' Limited, which operates Kindred Group's Danish business, has been reprimanded by the Danish Gambling Authority regarding past failings related to AML," Kindred wrote in response to Gambling Insider's request for comment.

Since then, Unibet has revised its AML structure in accordance with the Danish Gambling Authority's guidelines and will give the DGA an updated risk assessment.

Unibet received a reprimand from the DGA for breaking several of its rules, including those pertaining to business procedures, know your customer (KYC) procedures, politically exposed persons, and the need to report and conduct an investigation.

According to the statement, Unibet lacked "sufficient written business procedures for ongoing monitoring of existing customer relations" as of January 25 of this year.

According to the DGA, Unibet also lacked adequate business procedures for gathering and evaluating evidence related to possible money laundering and for reducing risks by using certain payment methods.

Unibet received additional criticism for its inadequate business practices "for managing politically exposed persons, their family members, and close associates," in addition to its failure to implement acceptable KYC procedures for five of the twenty high-roller customers who were examined during a spot check.

The DGA claims that Unibet also permitted a minor player to deposit more than DKK 1 million ($152,708) without providing sufficient disclosure on the source of his money.

The regulator stated that since the breaches have been resolved, the company is no longer required to take action, but it has been allowed two months to update its risk assessment.

Kindred Group stated, "We are happy to see that the DGA has now acknowledged that the breaches no longer exist. Kindred Group has the ambition to demonstrate the highest quality and standards in the industry."

Kindred has maintained an honest, open, and fruitful communication channel with the DGA regarding this issue throughout the proceedings. We'll keep working together and take all the required steps to fortify our control processes even more in order to fulfil our goal of providing excellent customer safety and AML security.

BP Group Ltd., well-known for owning a couple of the industry's top MGA-licensed online casinos, is now managing 21 Casino, a casino that went through a recent ownership shift. 21 Casino is the most recent member of the family, though another business created and launched the domain and casino in 2015. The casino may be 8 years old, but it has undergone a makeover that includes new graphics, games, and providers, as well as a massive welcome bonus and more. Players may rest assured that the casino is legitimate because it has a licence from the Malta Gaming Authority, the most stringent regulator in the industry (apart from the UK Gambling Commission, of course).
